Speaker Biography:

Dr. Lloyd Irland is a highly respected, global leader in the science, business, and policy of forestry and the environment. A prolific writer, gifted educator and public speaker, Dr. Irland has written five books, and over 300 professional and technical articles, and serves as lecturer and senior scientist at YaleUniversity's, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

 

Dr. Irland is also CEO of The Irland Group, a leading forestry and environmental sector consulting firm that advises governments, global industry, trade, and environmental groups, on environmental, forestry, and business issues, trends, policy, regulation, and global trade.

 

Prior to Yale University Dr. Irland worked with the US Forest Service as a research economist, the State of Maine, Department of Conservation, and as Maine's Chief Economist.

 

Dr. Irland has delivered presentations and workshops to the Intertribal Timber Council, Southwest Sustainability Forestry Partnership, among many other organizations, as well as participating in this year's Global Climate Summit in Copenhagen.

Dr. Irland received his Bachelor’s degree in forestry from MichiganStateUniversity, a Master of Science from the University of Arizona, and a PhD from Yale. His most recent book is titled The Northeast’s Changing Forests, which is distributed by Harvard University Press.
